Sumer’s conquest by Semitic-speaking peoples from the west is symbolized history of Sargon Akkad. Assyrian sources report that he was son an unknown father, associated with hilly regions, born in on banks Euphrates, and defeated Lugalzagesi Uruk (Liverani, 2013). This narrative has influenced both historical reconstructions perception cultural linguistic contact between Semitic Sumerian worlds. Indeed, while absorption syntactic, morphological, lexical features into Akkadian West languages been studied extensively (Zólyomi, 2012), little said about influences Sumerian, especially Semitic. Certainly, until early second millennium BC, remained evolving system rather than a frozen substrate, acquiring (Streck, 1998). Yet before empire’s foundation, lexicon seems to have penetrated already its formative period.
